The Equality & Diversity Officers’ Network (EDO Network)

The Bar Council's EDO Network:

  • Supports and assists EDOs and Data Diversity Officers (DDOs) in carrying out their roles

  • Shares good Equality & Diversity (E&D) practice between chambers, and

  • Identifies and addresses emerging E&D issues at the Bar.

Membership is free and you are eligible to join if you are an EDO, DDO or a clerk/practice manager in chambers

The Network offers:

  • Regular events, seminars and workshops on topical issues

  • LinkedIn group (online space to ask questions and share solutions), and

  • Easy acccess to experts on implementing good E&D practice in chambers, and sample E&D policies

Tackling the January Blues: Wellbeing Strategies for Chambers (and the EDO's role)

The Bar Council offices 

Following the successful launch of our Wellbeing at the Bar resources in October, the EDO Network will be exploring good Bar practices in wellbeing and specifically in supporting and resolving mental health issues for members of chambers and staff. We will be joined once again by Joanna Chatterton from Fox Williams LLP, solicitors who support many chambers in developing employment and people management strategies. This session will look at:

  • Developing a framework for your approach to Wellbeing

  • Signs to spot - how do know when someone is unwell and what you should do?

  • What others are doing

  • What your role as EDO should and shouldn't involve

As a response to our long standing campaign on Shared Parental Leave and the current BSB consultation, we also propose to pick up parental policies and to keep open a section on the agenda for you to raise issues and seek the advice of others on any E&D related topic you choose.

Do come along and take advantage of the opportunity to share experience, ask questions and get some assistance on some of these tricky areas.
